Volunteer Opportunities Outreach | Web Technician Gender Spectrum Family is committed to creating a more supportive world for people of all genders. We do this by increasing awareness and understanding of the normal range of gender variations found in everyone, and by providing education and support to families raising gender variant, gender non-conforming, gender-fluid, crossgender, and transgender children and adolescents. Outreach/Public Relations Volunteer We are looking for volunteers to assist us in increasing national awareness of our annual conference and other programs. We need volunteers with strong writing skills and knowledge of gender variant and transgender issues, especially as they pertain to children and youth. We seek people with a professional manner and a strong interest in supporting this work. Your role will involve establishing connections with pediatricians, local community centers, therapists and others to inform them of our agency programs, services, and resources. Excellent phone and writing skills are a must. Our programs: We produce the Gender Spectrum Family Conference, the first-ever national conference for families of gender variant and transgender children, now in its second year. In affiliation with Children's Hospital Oakland and Seattle, we hold monthly support groups for parents of gender variant children in California and Washington: we plan to add groups in more locations over the next five years. Additional programs include seminars, workshops, trainings and one-on-one consultations for schools, therapists, parents, teachers, health providers and others. We are seeking a Volunteer Web Technician to help us maintain a professional Internet presence as we add features and interactivity to the Gender Spectrum and Gender Spectrum Family web sites. This position requires fluency in HTML and CSS, strong development skills, and an eye for quality control. Knowledge of PHP and/or Javascript is strongly desired.
